That's taking me to places that I didn't want to go

The sky was a dark swirling gray, matching the color of the wet concrete. There was a smell of sodden ash in the air, the fumes of a fire drifting through the rain, pungent and lingering.  I stared around at the burnt remains of the warehouse and raised an eyebrow. Only you could have gotten yourself into a situation like this.
That's what you get for playing with fire, I thought bitterly.
There was no sign of life around the building's ground zero; no people, no bodies, not even a stray cat. But I knew.
You had to be here.
